Hello! I recently purchased some mung and alfalfa seeds for my kids (2, 4, 8, 9, and 12) to grow at home. Inasmuch as bean sprouts are cheap and plentiful at the grocery store, I just can't justify spending almost $30 for a commercial sprouter. Besides, we really don't eat enough sprouts to have three trays (a typical sprouter) worth growing at a time. How, then, do we grow our own bean sprouts? We tried just putting them on a dish and keeping them moist, but that didn't work well at all. They started to sprout and then died. Please give us a hint! Thanks!

The following page from the University of Nebraska provides illustrated instructions on growing sprouts using an ordinary glass jar. Enjoy! http://www.ianr.unl.edu/pubs/h...
