I have a wonderful compost pile with hundreds of worms. In a few weeks, I plan to till parts of my vegetable garden & till the compost into it. If I till long and deep, don't I chop up and kill the worms? |
You obiviously know the value of wrigglers in the garden! Worms shun sunlight, so to give them a running start, till your garden once, spread the compost over the top and wait a few hours to a full day before rototilling again. This will give the worms a chance to head down into the soil out of harm's way before you rototill deeply. To get full benefit from your compost, till at least 8"-12" deep. |
