I am interested in starting seeds inside but I have read you need to set them outside for a few hours at first to allow them to adapt to the outside environment. I work full time and usually leave around 7 am and return around 5:30. Will I be able to transfer my seeds successfully?

In your situation it is usually easier to start by setting them out on the north or northeast side of the house where they will stay in shade all day or nearly so and then gradually move them eastward so that they are in increasingly longer periods of morning sun and so on. This will allow them to harden off or acclimate successfully.
