Answer: Sphagnum moss is the only liner you'll need for your hanging basket. Completely line the wire form with moss, place some potting soil in the bottom, and if you're placing plants between the wires of the form, punch holes in the moss and stick the roots in. Then add more potting soil to the basket to cover the roots. If you just plan to place plants in the top of the basket, you can fill it with potting soil to within an inch or two of the top, then place the roots of your plants in the soil. Moss lined hanging baskets need to be watered frequently, especially when the weather is hot, so check your planter every day. An easy way to water is by placing the basket in a large container of water and allowing the soil to become fully saturated. This will drive out air pockets in the soil and make sure the entire root mass gets adequate water.
