Is there a difference between a "variegated" jade and a "crassula tricolor", or are they the same plant?

In general, I would expect the plants to be roughly comparable as long as they are both the jade plant type (C. portulacea or C. argentea). There are many crassulas available in addition to the jade plants! As with any "common name" such as this, there may be some variation between plants even of the same type. Although it is generally safer to go by the Latin name, there may also be some variation between "tricolor's" depending on the supplier and the parent plant. The only way to know for sure is to compare the plants.
