What type of flowers would do best in boxes on a shady back porch? They would get a little sun, but not much. I love impatients and ivy, would these work? Any tips?

Impatiens and ivy would be excellent choices for a shady location and look nice together, too. You might also try caladiums for another foliage texture. Like any container planting, these will do best in an evenly moist yet well drained mix and a regular fertilizations schedule should be followed for best results. Since the impatiens and caladium are especially sensitive to drying out, you might try adding a water-holding polymer to the potting mix. If you do, be careful not to overwater! Enjoy your flowers!
