| Tulips need to be planted in the fall so that they can undergo 12 to 14 weeks of chilling temperatures before they will come up and bloom. It is unlikely that they will be in good enough condition now to be viable and it is also too late to plant them outdoors, so unless you want to take a chance and try to force them in a refrigerator it is probably better to just throw them away. It is nearly impossible to store tulips over a full year. If you purchased hyacinths in bloom this spring you can plant them in the garden now. They will need to grow their foliage in order to replenish the bulb and then will die back. Next spring they should come up again. |
