Tulip Seeds - Knowledgebase Question

A student of mine pointed out that tulips have clear stamens and stigmals, but we all agreed that we had never seen tulip seeds. Is there such a thing? If not what purpose do the stamens and stigmas serve?

Tulips will set seed if you fail to remove the spent blooms.
