How do I stop my leaves from losing their color and turning brown, and eventually dying?

In general, leaves will brown due to lack of water in the soil mix, lack of humidity in the air, or an insect or disease problem. Sometimes it also happens due to overwatering or sunburn, too. Without knowing which plant it is, it's hard to make any specific suggestion.
