I was told to pull the dead foliage from alstromeria rather than cutting it off. Is this correct?

If you pull the spent flower stems from alstromeria it will prolong the blooming season, but the foliage generally dies down to the ground at the end of the season. If the foliage is dead, go ahead and cut it off. Cutting dead foliage shouldn't bother the plant in any way.
