I have just ordered some zinnia seeds for my southestern Pennsylvania garden (zone 6). Do I need to start the seeds in indoor containers, or can I plant the seeds in my outdoor garden this spring, for bloom this summer? I have never grown plants from seed before. Thank you! |
Zinnias can be grown just fine using seed planted directly in the garden, but it can take quite a few weeks for them to reach blooming size so many people start them inside just to get a head start. You might want to check through the Q&A and article archive for tips on seed starting; it's not really too difficult but can seem a bit confusing until you have done it once or twice. Have fun with your zinnias! |
