Help! My crocus which are just blooming seem to be broken and eaten by squirrels, tulip heads being eaten by squirrels -- what should I do?

These critters (and others) really seem to enjoy those tasty morsels! Here are a few things to try, with varying hopes for success. You can build a wire mesh cage over top of the beds to keep them out, or spray with repellents made expressly for the purpose or try home-made concoctions of garlic and/or red pepper. A pet dog or cat on patrol can help to chase them away, and last but not least, plant extra in the hopes they will miss some.
