The Q&A Archives: Tomato, Pepper, Bean, Cucumber

Question: What is very best variety of tomato, sweet pepper, bush bean, cucumber and snow pea for zone 9? Thank you. Earl Burk Seminole, FL

Answer: You can really grow any type of tomato, pepper, bean, and cucumber. Snow peas might be a little more challenging because they like cooler weather--I would save them for an early spring or late fall crop. Some good tomato varieties are: Heatwave II,Celebrity, and Burpee's Big Girl. Good peppers include Big Dipper and Golden Giant II Hybrid. Beans to try are: Blue Lake Bush Bean or, for fun, Yardlong Asparagus Pole Bean. Cucumbers include: Fanfare Hybrid and Early Pride Hybrid. You might try Super Sugar Snap snow pea this fall!
