I have an 8' high lattice peice on my deck and I want to plant flowering vines along its base in pots. This is temporary housing (next two years) and I want something that will grow fast. The lattice work has southern exposure and lies on the eastern part of the house, so it only gets the morning to noon sun. Do you have any recommendations for a fast growing, flowering vine? |
You will get by far the best and fastest coverage by growing annual vines such as morning glories or moon flower vine, but these will have to be replanted each spring. They will also do better in larger rather than smaller containers. Another possibility if you have a good sized large container such as a half barrel would be a trumpet creeper or a native variety of honeysuckle vine. These are perennial and would not need to be replaced, and grow relatively quickly. All of these are available from Burpee ( www.burpee.com ) or 800-888-1447. |
