The Q&A Archives: Anthurium Tips

Question: I have several anthuriums that are really struggling. The soil pH is 5.5-6.0. I am feeding them with 13-13-13 time released osmocote. They are in a very shady part of the deck. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you. Linda Melton Lumberton, TX

Answer: It sounds like your anthurium isn't getting enough light. They need bright light in winter, with a minimum temperature of 60 degrees F, and bright but not direct sun in summer. They are also humidity-loving, so water every few days and mist frequentlywhen humidity is below 50%. According to experts, they aren't the easiest houseplant to grow, so you aren't alone!
