| I have a roseleaf aralia located in a well-lit location. The plant seems fine and went through its repotting phase with no apparant problems. However, several leaves seem to be drying out on the edges. The leaf looks like half roseleaf and half dried out silver dollar leaf. Can you tell me what is going on ? |
| There are quite a number of plants from different genuses that are commonly called aralias. I'm not familiar with one called "roseleaf aralia". However, I suspect it is in the genus Polyscias, and is related to the more common Ming Aralia. Leaves on Aralias, and several other houseplants, will develop brown edges, tips, or spots when the plant is over or under watered. It is often a while after the water stress conditions before the symptoms appear, so you may be seeings signs of stress from repotting. Because there is additional soil in the container, the roots may be staying moister longer than it had been before repotting. Aralias tend to respond quite dramatically to unfavorable environmental conditions, and may drop a large number of leaves. One of the biggest problems is lack of humidity, especially in winter when central heating really dries out the air. I would prune away damaged areas, allow the soil to dry out between waterings, and mist frequently. I hope this helps! |
