What is the best care we can give our Holly trees? Presently we have a tree service spray pesticide every May. Is this really necessary. The trees are about 40 feet tall.

Healthy holly trees should require very little if any special care. There would be no routine reason to spray them annually unless there is in fact a pest or disease problem present. You might consult with your local county extension (265-5051) as to whether there is some particular concern about a pest or disease in your local area against which one might consider spraying on a preventive basis, or not. They should also be able to tell you the best timing and application method and so on of any needed measures as well as helping you determine if your trees are in need of any special care due to unusual circumstances.
