| For the last two years our burning bush loses all of it's leaves at the beginning of fall without ever turning red. This bush is approx. four feet tall, receives 6-7 hours of full sunlight and was planted 4 years ago in new constuction. The first two years, no problem. |
| The most common cause for what you described is drought stress -- newly planted plants (in the first three years and possibly four or five if there are extreme conditions) will require careful watering during dry periods until they have become fully established. Burning bush is quite drought tolerant, meaning it can survive, but its defense mechanism in a dry season is to simply defoliate early. |
