I planted purple and red bulbs 2 years ago. Last year they all came up, but the purple tulips never turned purple. They were a dark pink. Do I need to add something to the soil to make them turn dark purple? I have them lining my flower beds, over 400, and I don't want to have to dig them up.

Unfortunately, tulip color can not be adjusted the way some hydrangea blooms can be. Either the bulbs you received were mislabled or the catalog photo appeared more "purple" than the tulips really are -- but I'm sure the display is spectacular even in pink.
