Question: What kind of ground cover plant/flower do you recommend for a souther california area with temps reaching over 90 degrees in the summer? I need something that will cover a large area and is somewhat colorful, requires low maintence and low water - excluding iceplant.

Answer: Some of the hardiest groundcovers include Laurentia (Blue Star Creeper), Carex flacca, Chamomile, Vinca, Thyme, Training African Daisy, Evening Primrose, Fragaria (wild strawberry), Ajuga (carpet bugle) and Nepeta (catmint).
