The Q&A Archives: Tomato Plants with Yellowing Leaves

Question: Tomato plant has a large number of small tomatoes but many leaves have turned yellow. Will this affect additional fruit and/or what can I do? Dan Dyche Winter Springs, FL

Answer: It's hard to say what is causing your problem. Are all the plants in your garden affected, or only this one tomato? Have you had any unusual weather conditions that might have affected the plant? It sounds as though your plant is stressed by some factor. Tomatoes need lots of water and nutrients to produce top quality fruit, so be sure yours is getting plenty of both. Are there any signs of insect or disease problems? Continue to watch its growth for improvement. If other plants in your garden are also suffering, consider having a soil test done to determine if that's causing the problem.
