| Last October we moved & found some light pink raspberries growing in an old grape vine. We cut down the grape vine & now have many 6' tall, starting to leaf canes. What do I do now? |
| The first order of business is to identify your plant so you'll know how to take care of it. I'm going to presume it's one of the native berries. These include Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis), Blackcap raspberry (Rubus leucodermis), Thimbleberry (Rubus parviflorus), Creeping Raspberry (Rubus pedatus), and Nagoonberry (Rubus arcticus). Since you've already seen the fruits identification will be a bit easier. There's a book entitled Plants of the Pacific Northwest Coast by Pojar Mackinnon with pictures, habits and cultural requirements of most of the plants in your region. Check the book out at your local library or a well-stocked book store. I'll bet you'll find the true identity of your mystery raspberry! |
