What is the proper way to thin out Hostas when they become to thick? |
Hostas are very long lived plants and generally form a clump. They stop spreading once they reach their mature size, which may take five years or so. If yours were planted too close together simply remove some of them. Another option would be to dig and divide them to reduce the size of the individual clumps, but this would need to be repeated periodically so it is more work in the long run. |
