I HAVE A STRAWBERRY PEARMID. LAST YEAR I USED BARK FOR MULCH IS THAT GOOD OR IS PEATMOSS BETTER. ALSO IS PEATMOSS GOOD TO ADD TO A VEGETABLE GARDEN TO INCREASE THE ORGANIC MATERIAL. |
In my experience bark is a better mulch material than peat moss. Peat moss tends to tends to blow away when first applied unless it is kept moist, and then when it dries out it forms a crust that is difficult to remoisten. Dampened peat moss can be used as a soil amendment and is a good source of organic matter. It is easy to handle and transport but it may be expensive compared to other materials such as compost, rotted leaves, or aged stable manure and bedding. |
