Can you tell me if a red maple is the same as an october glory tree? What's the difference between them? |
"October Glory" is one particular kind of red maple. There are numerous different kinds or species of maples such as Red Maple (Acer rubrum) or Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) or Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum). Within each of these species, you will find a huge number of named varieties. "October Glory" is in fact a named variety of Acer rubrum so it is in fact technically a red maple. There are many named maple varieties that use the word red or crimson or scarlet in their name (such as "Crimson King" which is actually a Norway Maple), but they are not necessarily true red maples (Acer rubrum). |
