My backyard slopes to a low point that holds a lot of water. Is there some sort of bush or shrub that I could plant that would help suck up the water and not die of root rot? |
Here are some shrubs to consider for an area that is moist (but not standing water): deciduous holly (Ilex verticillata), inkberry holly (Ilex glabra), shrub dogwoods (Cornus sericea), Itea, and Virginia Swetspire (Clethra). Unfortunately, while these shrubs do prefer a moist soil, I would not rely on them to solve a drainage problem by sucking up the water. |
