I planted some spinach and lettuce in a raised bed on the 24th of March. If it was too soon will the seeds germinate once the weather warms up, or should I start over |
Spinach and lettuce can be planted about a month or so before the last anticipated frost date. They are very cold tolerant and should grow well in the cool weather. The seeds should begin to germinate when the soil reaches a temperature of about 50 degrees as long as the soil is moist. To keep a continuous supply of fresh spinach leaves, you can plant new batches about ten days apart, and lettuce can be planted about every two to three weeks, so it's certainly not too late to try again. |
