Curly leaf on plum, prune and cherries are caused by the feeding of black aphids. These pests attack early in the spring as the new leaves are emerging. Now is the time to watch for and treat the problem. Two applications of Insecticidal Soap about ten days apart should be all that is necessary to control the aphids. I would pick off and discard any of the curled leaves before spraying.
