| It is better to wait until they have finished blooming. A great time to transplant would be in late spring, or early fall so they have plenty of time to establish themselves before dealing with adverse conditions (extreme heat or cold). Remember they may "pout" for a season or two in the form of not blooming...that is natural. You can help the roots get established and the azaleas feel more at home by throwing a handful of bonemeal into the new planting holes. Remember that azaleas require a shallow planting. Keep the transplants well watered (but not soggy) after transplant. |
