The Q&A Archives: Light Requirements for Daylilies

Question: I was wondering if Stella D'oro' day lily can tolerate shade. Emmy Leach Unionville, PA

Answer: Daylilies will tolerate some partial shade but will flower more freely in full sun. I'd say if you have less than 3-4 hours of sun a day of sun, then consider planting a shade loving plant such as astilbe or hosta.
