Old mulch from last year that was in the flower gardens would you recomend tilling it into the veg. garden this spring or would this not be good.

ps. the old mulch is a hard wood

Although it is always a good idea to add more organic matter to the soil, a material that is closer to the composted stage would be preferable. For instance, you might try compost, old rotted leaves, or aged stable manure and bedding. In addition, the mulch can continue to serve as mulch where it is in the flower bed (you might fluff it ip and add a bit more for a total layer of about two or three inches) and will help feed the soil there as it rots down over time.
