I was wondering if and how you can start a strawberry plant from a seed. I have a couple store bought plants, but would like to experiment with seeds. |
You can germinate the seeds you pick off of ripe strawberries, and they'll grow into plants. The plants will probably grow edible berries. Strawberries available in markets this early in the season usually come from Mexico or somewhere else with a very warm climate. Therefore, it's hard to know if that particular variety will grow well in your gardening region. Simply pick the seeds off with tweezers and place them on the surface of moistened seed starting mix. Put the trays or pots in a warm area. Seeds will germinate in 14-21 days. Good luck with your seedlings! |
