The Q&A Archives: Causes for Brown Streaks on Tomatoes

Question: What would cause a tomato (fruit) that has just started to grow to have small brown (tan) streaks on it? D'vonne Mathis Pascagoula, MS

Answer: There are a number of factors that might cause your tomato fruit to have brown streaks on the fruit. Diseases such as mosaic virus, cool or hot temperatures when they were flowering or stress from lack or too much water. Without seeing the fruit, it'shard to say what is causing the problem. I'll refer you to your County Extension Office for more help. (786-3131).
