| I have a maple tree that is about two and a half inches in diameter at the base, that was planted last summer. The main trunk bends off considerably from about five feet up. Is there any thing I can do to straighten the tree that won't risk killing it? |
| Based on your description, I am having a hard time envisioning the tree. If the bend is caused by a secondary branch in the process of replacing the original leader, the tree will eventually straighten itself out as it grows in its naturally upright direction. In this type of situation it isn't usually necessary to do anything except wait. |
