How cold can newly purchased ferns stand?

If you are planting bare rooted ferns that are still dormant, they should be fine in cold weather with perhaps some mulch pulled up around them. If you have purchased ferns that have already unfurled, or ferns that have been sheltered in a greenhouse, you will need to protect them from frost as it will damage the new growth.
