| Kumquats are usually produced in abundance when the weather remains warm and mild. If your tree seems overloaded, you can remove some of the fruit and allow the rest to mature. If it's already time to harvest (timing depends upon the weather), you can pick the fruit then prune the tree before new flowers appear. Kumquats can be pruned to shape without diminishing their fruiting ability. Trim back the main stems and branches by about one-third and your tree will develop new flowering wood over the summer season. |
