Years ago, someone told me how you could produce compost in garbage bags, but I have forgotten what they said. Is this feasable, and if so, what proportions of ingredients should I use?

It is possible to compost in garbage bags. You need to add the materials to be composted and moisten them to the dampness of a well wrung out sponge. Make sure there is a good proportion of "green stuff" to "brown stuff" or nitrogen to carbon, just as you would in a regular compost pile. Roll the bags around occasionally to mix the ingredients, and keep in mind that composting stops in cold weather.
