Is the miniature horsetail, Equisetum scirpoides, a good choice to use near a pond? Will it freeze in winter at temperatures of -5oF? Is it too invasive? |
Horsetails grow well near water and can look very attractive. The plants are hardy to USDA Zone 5, or approximately -20oF. On the other hand, all horsetails are considered invasive plants. Don't ever plant them in or near ponds with natural bottoms. On the other hand, if it's spreading roots are restrained by a container it should be fine. |
