I have a bed where I'd like to plant a row of tomato plants in the front and plant a couple rose bushes in the back. The bed gets a good amount of sun, is this a good idea to put these in the same bed? |
That arranagement should be fine, as long as the tomatoes don't grow so that they will shade the roses. Just take care that the roses are placed far enough away from the tomatoes that any cultivation you may do with a hoe or tiller won't interfere with the roses' roots. Also, it's always a good idea to rotate vegetable crops throughout a garden, so next year, consider planting garlic or onions where the tomatoes are now -- they are considered great companions for roses. |
