The Q&A Archives: Name Of Tree Now Blooming With White Flowers?

Question: Everyone in my office wants to know the name of the gorgeous trees outside that are now blooming with beautiful white flowers on them. We work in Great Neck, New York on Northern Blvd. and they are in front of our building and across the street - they are gorgeous and we want to know what they are called. Thank you.

Answer: I'm sorry but I have not been in Great Neck this week. Odds are good it is a Bradford Pear, if it is evenly or nearly symmetrically pyramidal shaped and the flowers are somewhat fragrant and the leaves are a nice glossy green. You might contact your local County Extension (454-0900) or City Street Tree Commission and ask them for a more definite identification. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
