| Even though I know they are beneficial, we have swarms of lady bugs. Is there anyway to control them, but not kill them all? |
| The ladybugs tend to congregate and then hibernate in colonies; in the spring when the weather turns warm they will fly away. They prefer white or light colored surfaces oriented to the west or south. In the meantime, they do no actual harm, and since they are in the area your garden should never suffer from an aphid infestation. In the meantime, I know from sad personal experience how aggravating they can be if they have found a way into the house. The solution is to caulk every crack and crevice possible and thereby exclude them from the walls and attic and windows. Unfortunately, I know of no way to selectively control them. |
