The Q&A Archives: Tips on Ipomopsis Seedlings

Question: I am having difficulty in getting Ipomopsis started. Very few seedlings are coming up. When they do, they will die when I try to put them into sunlight. What do you suggest in getting the Hummingbird Mix going? Don't know what I am doing wrong.Jim Wiese Iowa Park, TX

Answer: After the seedlings emerge, wait to place them in the sun. They might be getting "cooked". Let the seedlings increase in size just a bit and then gradually expose them to higher and higher levels of light until they can tolerate full sun. Of course, keep them well watered too!
