| I have a group of Sedum 'Autumn Joy' which advanced quite early this year. It is approximatley 6 to 9 inches out of the ground. The weather has turned very cold (lows at 20 to 30 degrees) which has froozen the plants. Should I be concerned about damage to the plants and what is the chance that they will still make it this year? |
| It is disheartening when the new growth gets frozen back, but these are very tough plants and I would expect them to recover just fine. Next year, you might delay removing any leaf litter and so on that has blown in and caught over top of them during the winter to help keep them insulated a bit from early warm spells and also possibly keep a little straw or mulch handy to toss over them in case of a late hard freeze. This would possibly help to lessen the damage. But with a little patience you should see them begin growing. |
