Some love grasses (Eragrostis spp.) are perennial, others are annuals. These plants prefer a sunny location, and aren't particularly fussy about soil type. An annual application of compost or a slow-release balanced fertilizer should be adequate. I would not recommend a high nitrogen lawn fertilizer because these can cause rapid, rampant growth that may be more susceptible to disease problems.
