We recently purchased a piece of property that has hundereds of wild day-lilies (the kind that grows on sides of roads) as well as hosta's. We would like to replant those areas with something else, however we dig and dig and seem to get nowhere on removing these plants. What would you suggest? Is there such a spray or granular product available?

You could use an herbicide containing glyphosate according to the label instructions. Both of these plants may continue to come up subsequently from seeds, however, so you might want to pay special attention to using mulch around new plantings to try to smother any emerging seedlings.
