I have several types of lilies growing around my tree in the front yard. What is the best way to transplant them, and when?

Lilies can be transplanted in the very early spring or in early fall; dig as large a root ball as possible and replant immediately at the same depth as it grew originally. Handle it as carefully as you can so that the soil does not fall away from the bulb and break the roots. Lilies need a location with good drainage, especially in the winter time, so they do not rot.
