Hi, I appreciate your response!
I have a weekend house north of Chicago with a deck that I love to decorate with potted annuals. I have used the crystals that "expand" in water and supposedly keep plants moist but since I am only there on weekends, in the hot months I haven't really noticed a diference in the moisture level. I know geraniums are fine without water for a number of days but what else can you recommend? I love impatiens, but I find they are the worst, needing water sometimes twice a day in hot weather.! I do use some of the vines and spikes for fillers in the pots.

Thanks for your response!!
