| My hibiscus, hydrangea,and glad bulbs arrived Tues. 4/11 during a snow shower. It snowed the next 2 days and we had a heavy frost on Fri. A.M. Although I live in Zone 6, along Lake Ontario, we can have snow as late as the first week of May. We are usually warned not to plant tender plants until Memorial Day. My question is , where can I safely hold over my plants untill a safer planting time? (I have a cool enclosed porch) Then when woould you recommend I plant the 3 of these. | Dormant, bare root deciduous shrubs can be planted upon arrival and allowed to awaken with the season. The glad bulbs can be stored in a dry location at a cool room temperature (do not allow to freeze) until you are ready to plant them. They can be planted at ten day intervals or all at once beginning in mid spring, about when trees are leafing out. |
