| You'll be glad to hear that growing roses is very simple. All rose care boils down to feeding, watering, pests, and pruning. Use any good rose fertilizer and follow the label directions. Keep soil moist. This shouldn't be a problem where you live, but in case of prolonged drought (two or three weeks of no rain), give plants a good soaking. Prune by cutting off flowers for indoors or at least once they fade. In late winter (Feb or March), cut out old and dead branches and twigs. What you do about pests depends upon which ones you have and how much you care. Healthy roses can survive many pests. Check with the experts at a local garden center if you think some are getting out of hand. One of the best guides to roses for beginners is Roses For Dummies, by Lance Walheim and NGA.
