The Q&A Archives: Are Sweet Potatoes Related To Potatoes?

Question: Are sweet potatoes and regular potatoes related? I am asking because I want to know about rotating crops. If I plant sweet potatoes in the same spot as regular potatoes if that would be okay or if I should wait and rotate before planting one after the other.

Answer: Although sweet potatoes are actually related to morning glories rather than potatoes, it is still a good idea to rotate them because they are both root crops.
